Releasing stress, moment by moment, in a beautiful active mindful practice, participants will explore their bodies from the inside out. As Adina leads participants through a guided dance experience, they will connect to both their physical & energetic bodies through Free Form Dance and Movement. Our bodies can become a resource to help us alter our own realities.
Come dance in my new in-home dance studio!
NEW!
Intimate In-Person
4 Person Classes
I welcome you into this new very small format of only 4 students per class (so that we can have our own little area to dance in). Often one person is absent, due to things that come up in life, so there are sometimes only 3 students. It feels like a comfortable amount of room for dancing during these COVID times and a cozy space to be intimate with one another as many of us crave safe in-person connection right now. All dancers are required to dance with a faceshield or mask.

TESTIMONIALS
"I experienced a marvelously freeing quality to the class--no judgment, no critique--a very playful approach to using dance as sacred practice. I had done some of this work before through [another kind of class], but this was much more intentional in terms of its goals."
-Carol Tyx, past participant
"During this class I felt my body give me answers to explain this imbalance and what I can do to bring things back into coexisting.... I have never had such a vivid moving meditation. I'm still working through some of the information I received and how to use it moving forward. Truly a life changing experience."
-Bri Postlewait, past participant
"This was truly transformational for me in ways that are difficult to express in words. I have started to really see things shift internally and externally in my life that before were stuck in a more stagnant state."
-Jen Kardos, past participant
"The 2nd class...was magic for me. I could connect with it a couple of hours before being there and after as well. It moved things in me that felt very nice and peaceful, I felt I was floating in a space where time does not exist during this class and that felt so nice, like an out-of-this-world experience."
-M.M., past participant
Adina Levitt has been connecting with her body through Modern Dance since the age of 5 years old when she started taking classes at the Center for Modern Dance Education (in NJ) and continued throughout her college years, at Earlham College, where she choreographed many dance pieces through Dance Alloy.
In 2010, on the Spring Equinox, Adina was one of 11 dancers in the medicine dance "For the One", in an outdoor arbor in Tennessee, where she danced for 2 days in ceremony to a tree and back, to the tree and back again. During this time she was fasting from food and water, sleeping under the stars, & participating in sweat lodges.
Inspired by the freedom she felt dancing among others in a medicine dance, Adina created the Tribal Dance Collective ritual dance group in Iowa City in 2010 where she spent many magical evenings with friends dancing around trees and connecting to the energy of the Earth. Later that year she was lead to begin a 3 1/2 year shamanic apprenticeship (a deep study of Energy).
In 2018 the Our Sacred Bodies Free Form Dance & Movement Series was created after Adina had some health challenges that lead her to listen deeply to her own body. She wove together her love of dance, her passion for healing, with her earth centered spiritual work in a format that would be accessible to anyone who was open.
You can see details about the rest of her bio, including 10 years teaching yoga and 10 years as a shamanic practitioner here.

Where does the In-Person class take place?
At Adina's home dance studio, 635 S. Governor St., Iowa City
*****1 Scholarship Available: Adina would like to offer 1 full scholarship to provide a complimentary class to 1 BIPOC to join either class. In this moment when we have an even greater awareness of the racial injustices of our nation (especially economic), this is a way of naming it, bringing awareness to it in local businesses, and making a contribution to support some people who may have interest in this work. Please contact Adina directly for more info.

What happens if I miss 1 or more classes?
Once you pay for the class there will not be any refunds. There will be no transfers of payments for this class to future classes. I know that people are busy with lots on their calendars, I can say that for participants who have had to miss classes in the past, they still felt that they received a lot of benefit from the classes they were able to attend.
Due to the small nature of the classes you will not be able to make-up classes on a different day than the class time that you signed up for.
What kinds of music will we be dancing to?
African, Native American, Medicine Music, Peruvian Healing Songs, Nature Sounds, Shamanic Drumming, Hemi-Sync, and more
