What is Shamanism?
"Shamanism is a way of accessing spiritual guidance that dates
back tens of thousands of years. It is practiced all over the
world...The only doctrine of shamanism is that this work be
used to benefit all life and for the purpose of healing."

A shaman is an energy worker who has an underlying belief that a field of energy surrounds each individual which is directly related to his/her overall health. When a person is struggling with an issue (i.e. relationships, unable to move forward in life, unclear of purpose, fears, loss of personal power, blocked in creativity, sleep/exhaustion issues, or physical health problems) it is usually because their personal energetic body is blocked by hucha (heavy energy). It is this hucha which is preventing them from finding clarity in their lives.
Hucha can be made up of fear, stress, sadness, shock and many other heavy emotions from an individual's past experiences. It is the shaman's belief that all of the interactions and thoughts that an individual participates in are reflected like a mirror onto his or her personal energy field. As a result this energy field acts like a library of information for the shaman to help the individual. A shaman's role is to help a person release the hucha that is covering his or her current view of reality and call in the energy that the client is wanting to embrace.
With the assistance of Nature (earth, sky, water, air, fire, sacred mountains) and animal archetypes, the shaman acts as an intermediary between the physical and energetic worlds. As the hucha is released from the energetic body it leaves room for a healthier life path to unfold, and helps the individual see who he or she really is, a soul of light and joy.
Ultimately the shaman's intention is to empower an individual to create their own personal ritual, be mindful of their own energy body, and connect with Nature in a way that feels real and alive. A shaman's living relationship with Pachamama (Mother Earth), Father Sky, the Apus (spirits in sacred mountains), animal archetypes and spirit guides are the foundation for shamanism. The shaman is only a small part in the larger mystery that unfolds for the individual.
